Denise Mayer
BFA, AISTD
Denise's journey in dance commenced at the tender age of three. This passion remained a constant throughout her formative years, encompassing ballet, tap, and jazz disciplines. During her high school years, she chose to immerse herself in modern dance, forgoing traditional physical education classes. This trajectory persisted into her time at the University of Illinois (U of I), where she diligently pursued a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in dance.
It was within the confines of the U of I that she was introduced to the captivating realm of ballroom dancing, an interest that has sustained her ever since. During this period, she affiliated herself with
the National Dance Council of America (NDCA), the United States Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance (USISTD) and the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance (ISTD), organizations dedicated to the advancement of dance education and standards.
In a subsequent chapter, the USISTD chose to independently establish the American International Dance Association, marking a departure from the ISTD. Within this evolved dance landscape, Denise proudly holds membership.
