FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Do I need a partner?
You do not need a partner. We want to welcome all who are interested in dancing, whether you are single or have a partner. You are also learning a skill, a skill to be able to do with anyone. During our group classes we rotate partners. This is difficult for many people when we start, but soon dancers realize the benefits of rotating partners. Besides, dancing is social, and rotating allows us to meet many wonderful people.

Will I be the only one who does not know how to dance?
If you knew how to dance, you would not need to come to class. Our beginning classes are just that, they lay the foundation by which all other classes are built.

What do I wear?
Classes are very casual, jeans, shorts. The dances are more dressy, upper end of dressy casual, lower end of dressy. No gym shoes or rubber soled shoes. No open-toed shoes or sling backs. Leotard and tights are not appropriate for group classes.

What if I have two left feet?
We work that out! And most people start that way.

What if I do not know what to look for in the music?
We work all that out, we assume that you know nothing about what you are looking for in the music, what a beat is or what rhythm is and how we use them in our dancing; or what the difference is between the waltz and the fox trot.

How long does it take to learn how to dance?
We can have you dancing to the music the first night, but the gentleman usually report that it takes around nine months to really understand what it is they are trying to accomplish on the dance floor.
